I've added an update about my new MacBook that may answer some of your questions, (although it's pretty much what I've told you here already). But if you want to see my MacBook and that there is no discoloration, here is the link.

It's a Targus Chill mat - http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4216991 - I actually haven't used it much without being plugged in, so I can't comment on battery life. But it works very well. It adds bulk to the setup, which is part of the reason I chose the MacBook, but at least I can use it on my lap now. It's very light, though, and it runs quietly. Plus, it's pretty cheap.

Hey,

Yeah I was wandering around youtube looking for videos of the MacBook after I saw the \"Mooing\" video and came across yours.

I read through your site in hopes of seeing how it was going but you didn\'t have too much more about it, if I recall.

Glad to hear things are going well. With the internet it\'s hard to figure out exactly how big issues are. All products have defects but when everyone can collect their list of issues in one site it\'s hard to tell how bad it is relative to every other product. I\'m also leary of rivals *cough*microsoft*cough* *cough*dell*cough* feeding content to sites likes these to make it look worse.

I\'m sure there are some issues though I imagine they\'ll be fixed. The headphone kernel panic was already fixed in the 10.4.7 patch, it appears.

I\'m still on track to get mine. Do you notce much of a battery drain with the coolig lap tray? Which model did you get?

Hi,

Thanks for linking to my blog!

I bought a MacBook (seen here - http://chadwsmith.blogspot.com/2006/06/my-new-macbook.html) and I love it. It can get a little warm, but a I got a $25 USB-powered cooling tray at Walmart, and it's all good. No discoloration - no mooing - no glitches. I say go for it! MacBooks rule!
