Got your attention? =)
Ugg so I just got home.. 2:17 in the morning. Everyone else is sacked out but we’ve got “the book”.

I can’t even begin to convey what it was like at the Barnes & Noble we chose to camp at to get the latest (last) Harry Potter book. It was like being locked in the high school locker room for 5 hours with the showers on full blast and the football teams jock straps hanging from the ceiling. Well.. maybe that’s too vivid a pictures.
We had reserved out book a couple months ago so when we showed up at about 9:30 we had to wait in line to get a wrist band… the coveted Yellow wrist band. After must haggling over the correct way to spell our last name we finally got our band. And then set off to try and kill the next two and a half hours till they even BEGAN selling the things.
At one point Stacia overheard someone say that they had about 3,500 pre-order books and that they’d ordered another 1,500 for the folks who hadn’t the fore thought. (For book 5 we just showed up at midnight and snagged one). So… a little over 3 and a half thousand people? I dunno about that.. but it was flipping crowded.
The kids did their best to hold out till about 11:25 at which point then had a total system shutdown. Stacia and I drug them out to the car and I went back in and hid in the programming section and read for another 2 hours. Finally my lot was called to line up and we were allowed to pony up 20 bucks for the book.
I think when it was just Stacia and I this sort of thing was fun… or at least.. it’s the sort of thing you look back on and think that it was fun. I vaguely remember that whole no place to stand, wafting body odor, and tired screaming children. But in a way I’m glad this is the last one because then we won’t be tempted to try it with kids again. =)
So now I’ve got to read it. Maybe after I get some sleep.
Must set the alarm to get before Stacia or she’ll have it all day.
