I’m turning off the iPhone specific theme/plugin for a bit because I noticed, for what ever reason, it causes wp-hashcash to throw out your comment with a nasty message when using the theme.
I don’t know why. The hooks are there for hashcash. But it just chucks the comment. Doesn’t even offer it up to me for review. So until i can figure it out, and since the iphone browser is “uber” I’ll just leave the theme off.
Let me know if you care.

So, I’m pretty lousy at getting this page updated with actual posts - I’ve updated the side bars and wordpress itself. I blame my general laziness and pounce (and now twitter). You’ve got to make time for blogging, obviously. That’s pretty hard for me with the aforementioned laziness and then there’s work and family.
It used to be I could get things written because an idea would invade my brain and fester for a while. I’d subconsciously write the post over the course of a day or two and finally I’d just make the time to write.
Now with twitter and pounce I can just dump those pesky ideas with a quick “This sucks” “This good” “Grunt grunt”.
Do more professional - or at least consistent - bloggers avoid “the social” all together? Any tips and tricks for overcoming the lazy enabling instant micro blogging?

Work blocks the chat page that comes up to respond to chat requests from the badge. Oh well… I might not respond I guess. But I think Google chat logs things. So you can at least leave a message.

This thing is still here eh? Perhaps I should do something with it. =) Added the new Google Chat Badge. How’s that for progress, eh? Oh well… since I’m primarily doing web based work now I’ve been thinking of ways to spiff up this site and actually post. Of course it’s blocked by work… lovely.
Oh well… see you all soon.

If I’m updating too slowly make sure you check out my Google Reader and Digg shares listed across the top of the site. I’m also posting smaller more pointless things on Pownce. If you don’t have a Pownce account send me an email and I’ll send you an invite.

Okay… I’ve got slack for having a donation button for hardware… more important though is the fact that I haven’t got diddly from it. So I’ve taken the hint. That stuff is out.
I’ve also added a slug more links in the podcast section to some of the podcasts I listen to.
I’ve expanded on the MonoCast format proposal on the forums and tweaked some other things.
Going to fix the Planet-Rev page next - realized I still have an ad there and a broken link - and create a MonoCast page.

Okay, I’m back in the blog game. Been up to a lot of real life business for the last month or so. Let’s get back into the action with some updates.
Got an iPod Nano for Christmas. I’m loving this thing. I don’t know why I EVER got that waste of space XM radio. I’ve got it filled up with all kinds of podcasts. I’m going to add some of my favorites to the links list here.
Speaking of podcasts I’ve got the podcast bug. I’ve found the linux showing for podcasts really lacking. There is LUG Radio which is pretty funny and I think perhaps the best. But I’m not going to do one on linux per say. I’m thinking more along the lines of Mono. I’m tired of hearing interviews with Miguel basically boil down to “Aren’t you afraid of Microsoft” and “You’re ruining linux”.
Since all podcasts apparently need a forum I’ve setup them up and you can reach them here and through the link at the top of the page. The forums aren’t just about the proposed podcast so even if you could careless about Mono head on over and.. well I’d tell you to take a look around.. but honestly there isn’t anything there at the moment. So start something, punk.
I’ve started a post on the proposed general format of the show and I’d be interested in peoples input on that. Have a look to get a general idea for what the shows going to be about.
Let’s see. At work Justin and I gave a big presentation on WiX to the engineers at the company. Justin covered our companies install history and WiX history and I did a demo, talked about how we came to use WiX, and then our plans for using WiX in the future. How it could become part of our bigger plan of CruiseControl.net/WiX/SubVersion/NaNT. I think it went over really well. While we don’t have dev’s banging down our doors to start using it (They take a ‘That’s a good idea we’ll get to it soon’ approach, which is why I had to just start using WiX in the first place) but we had good comments.
Remaining true to my strategy from school days I put together my OpenOffice.org slide show about 30 minutes before the presentation. Justin asked if I wanted to do a walk through but I passed. If you think too hard about how you should say something you can sometimes forget what it is you want to say. I think i did pretty good.. maybe I should get a speaking gig… like David from Office Space (UK). =) It’d probably go pretty much the same way. *SIMPLY THE BEST.. daah daah dahh BETTER THAN ALL THE REST daah daah da da*
I also got some of those cool pocket handwarmers that Nat posted about on his blog. The reusable ones I posted about them earlier as well. I felt like Mr. Wizard showing those off to people and doing the whole speal about what was happening. Where did I put those things?
Someone in #Mono posted about a game company using C#. (Updated to add the link)
cj pointed me to the Everett Wireless site which he apparently setup. I’m eager to get to a meeting. I’ve got dish I’m not using here and it would be fun to mod it for that 10 mile line of site wireless you’re supposed to be able to get. Any local geek thing is nice. When I was going ot the Seattle Mono Users Group (SMUG) I’d be gone all Sunday driving back and forth to Seattle and coding all night. Makes it a bit hard on the family.
And speaking of wireless. Seattle Wireless got a new node and a new maps site, which Eric had a hand in setting up.
And Eric has grown increasingly annoyed that I haven’t been working on Meshwork since he decided to switch to GTK#. He’s since decided to switch back to Forms but is loath to touch the code. Eric holds a special place in hell for Windows Forms. =) But I hear idan has been doing some pretty kick ass work.
This is a pretty long post - I took time to setup flash on my son’s laptop and show him Thomas the Thank engine - so I’m going to end it here. But I’ll be back. Let me hear about MonoCast. I’m hoping to get the first episode out soon.

So, it’s so foggy I can’t see the end of the block and it’s 35 degrees. This prompted our Saturn Vue’s temperature indicator to flash “ICE”. I’ve never seen that before. Cool.
But, as I was saying.. it’s 35 degrees so what did I just do? Mowed the lawn. Apparently lawns need to be winterized. “I did not know that.” All through my youth I never once winterized my father’s yard. And since I was the defacto grounds keeper I imagine if it were a real process and not something made up by Scott’s Turf Builder I would’ve done it.
Even so, I am fairly certain that this new fad of winterizing shouldn’t actually be done in the winter. But I’ve procrastinated when it comes to yard work. I think it’s a subconcious rebelion against my neighbor who mows his lawn at LEAST 3 times a week.
Basically my love knows you need to winterize and by god it WILL be done. Even at 35 degrees. The moral.. “Don’t put off what you can do at 60 degrees what you’ll eventually have to do anyway near freezing.”
Oh.. and I added link to the Blogs called “Planet Rev”. If you’re at all interested in reading the blogs I have listed that link will take you to a planet page I’ve setup that aggrigates all those feeds - sans the monologue one, that’d just be too big. I got tired of opening countless tabs to check people’s posts - most don’t update often anyway. And I didn’t want to install a RSS reader on all the different machines I log on from.

You can now reach the page via www.revfry.com. Though it’ll redirect you even if you type in the old mavra address. So.. uhh.. never mind. But for orders sake you might as well change your links.

I’ve been getting so many damned comments for Poker sites and gambling that I’ve institued a new method to control comments. Now you’ll have to do the whole “Type what you see in the image above” thing. But it’s going to save me time deleting unwanted spam comments. If anyone has real problems making out what’s written let me know and I’ll switch the font.
Update: People who are logged on don’t have to play this whole game. So if you’re thinking you’re going to regularly hassle me and you’d like to avoid all that… let me know and I’ll just set you up with an account.
